Renowned for its chic oyster-tone-velvet-lined walls, woven seagrass flooring, and indigenous cypress molding that draws the eye toward custom-made chandeliers, the Peninsula Grill Dining Room was designed by the incomparable Amelia Handegan, whose coveted interiors are frequently chronicled by Architectural Digest, Veranda, and House Beautiful, among others.
Delightfully curious and lighthearted details are found throughout the classically elegant room, including a series of captivating 19th-Century oil painting portraits and one very popular painting of a mule. The effect is lovely and inviting—the perfect embodiment of the entire Peninsula Grill experience.
When Peninsula Grill opened, the marriage of a handsomely appointed dining room with sophisticated interpretations of Southern cuisine became the pinnacle for dining in Charleston. Heralded by Esquire as one of America’s Best New Restaurants, the AAA Four Diamond and Forbes Four Star-ranked Peninsula Grill continues to earn recognition from esteemed publications and loyal guests.

Peninsula Grill will temporarily close as of August 31st as we complete an exciting renovation that will complement the next chapter already underway in the kitchen. Since returning to the restaurant, Executive Chef John Ondo has been reintroducing guests to the soulful Lowcountry flavors that have long defined Peninsula Grill. Now, we're pairing Chef Ondo's culinary vision with thoughtfully reimagined interiors, creating a dining experience that honors the restaurant's celebrated legacy while ushering in an exciting new era for Planters Inn.
We look forward to welcoming guests back this fall and sharing what’s next for Peninsula Grill.
